The Dark Divine

Sometime this spring or summer a fellow blogger commented on one of my posts that she thought I would love The Dark Divine by Bree Despain, and indeed, it looked great, but I was trying to restrain myself from over-spending on books as I often do. However, whenever I heard the title come up I was more and more excited to eventually read the book. When I heard that the second book The Lost Saint would be coming out in December, I could no longer resist. At the end of this week it came in the mail, and even though I have so many other books in the bin by my bed, the cover drew me in. I picked it up yesterday evening and finished it this morning - it was that good.

Similar to other paranormal romance books it drew me in with the theme of female characters not knowing quite how to navigate through their feelings about a mysterious male character who is different, on one hand knowing he could be dangerous, yet also thinking there had to be more to the story. Yet, in this book it was different because the main character Grace Divine had a long history with the mysterious bad boy who showed up after disappearing years before. Tensions ran high when Daniel returned to town because of a conflict between Daniel and Grace's brother Jude right before his disappearance. Grace never understood what happened that night, but the more she knows the more she kicks herself for being so curious.

The book hooked me from beginning to end, loving each unexpected twist in the plot trying to determine just where everybody stood, not always being the type of person they appeared to be. The Lost Saint couldn't come soon enough. If you can't wait to read the book, right now the Kindle edition of The Dark Divine is only $2.39, and it will be released in paperback on November 23rd.

  2. I just read your post on my blog about Hush, Hush and I was thinking how similar these two books must be. Thanks for the heads up on the great Kindle price- now I just have to figure out two things. 1. Can I lend my Kindle to a student to read this one? 2. Should I start it tonight, or wait until I get Crescendo tomorrow? I wonder if calling in sick to read is a good idea???

  3. I have to say that early in the year I had strep throat for the first time. I was miserable with the off and on fevers and so much pain in my throat, but I definitely savored the quiet time to read away!
